Officers responded to the shooting shortly after 11:15 a.m. Monday in the 2000 block of Bedford Street. They found a man who had been shot in the abdomen inside an apartment. The man, whose name is not being released at this time, was taken to the hospital for treatment of critical injuries.

The shooting appears to have been a domestic incident, police investigators said.

Durham police also are investigating a second shooting that was reported around 12:45 p.m. Monday in the 500 block of Liberty Street. The victim in that shooting – a 32-year-old man – was shot in the leg and walked to the 1000 block of Taylor Street for help, police spokeswoman Kammie Michael said.

“Investigators are trying to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” Michael said.
